In the beginning of spring MegaFon Moscow is proud to announce the further expansion of the coverage area in Moscow and the Moscow region. As a result of the preplanned implementation of new base stations, the quality of indoor reception in Moscow and in areas with low level of signal has been significantly improved. Today, the MegaFon coverage area in the Moscow region includes dozen of new towns and communities.In Moscow new and additional base stations has been launched in the central districts, on major city highways and prospects (Altufyevskoe shosse, Kashirskoe shosse, Leningradske shosse, Leninskiy prospect, the Garden Ring, etc.), as well as in districts Basmanniy (in the area of the third transport ring), Davydkovo, Lyublino, Nagatino-Sadovniki, Pechatniki, Ramenki, Sokol, Tekstilschiki, Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, North and Central Chertanovo, and Schukino.
The coverage area in the Moscow region has been substantially expanded by over 100 towns and settlements. The list of newly covered communities includes district centers Yegoryevsk, Mozhaisk, settlements Voronov, Krasnaya Pakhra (Podolskiy district), Vysokie Dvoriki (Serpukhovskiy district), Drezna (Orekhovo-Zuyevskiy district), Leninskiy, Petrovo-Dalneye (Krasnogorskiy district), Maleyevka, Nekrasino, Spas-Zaulok (Klinskiy district), Moskovskiy (Leninskiy district), Pravdinskiy (Pushkinskiy district), Rogachevo, Semenovskoe (Dmitrovskiy district), Tolstopaltsevo (Solntsevskiy district), Uspenskoe (Odintsovskiy district) and dozen of others. In addition, several new base stations have been launched in towns Vidnoe (Leninskiy district), Noginsk, Puschino, Elektostal (Noginskiy district) and the Domodevovo airport. As of the beginning of spring 2003 the MegaFon coverage area in the Moscow region included over 1 600 settlements and communities.
The network development program of MegaFon Moscow, apart from the geographical expansion of the coverage area, includes other aspects. Recently, the Company has put into operation a new mobile switching center (MSC), thus increasing the network capacity and moving towards the new stage of the development of the MegaFon project in the city of Moscow and Moscow region..
